In a video game called Night in the Woods (Infinite Fall, 2017), the main character Mae Borowski explains his struggle against depression. Sometimes, she only sees the world, the objects, and the people around her as shapes, as they lose all their meaning to become empty entities. This dissociation that distorts reality destroys all purposes to morality and eliminates emotions to become a terrifying neutral and soulless automaton. Against the Shapes is the will to connect to our emotions, our desires, and our fears, it is the constant fight to bond and find meanings in everything we see and touch, a very long and tiring journey to stay human.
